Prediction: what would happen in 2025?

 

Hello everyone,

    Okay, some of the events from last year spilled over to this year. I thought it was important to make a prediction of the business events that will happen this year. Throughout this year, I will cover them in weekly news to keep you updated on how each event turned out.

1. Google court case

    Last year, Google was ruled a monopoly by the Supreme Court, could they successfully appeal? Since Google has already attached itself to our daily lives of searching and using the internet, will Google continue to remain a top search engine in the industry in the future?

2. Cryptocurrency

    Bitcoins have been growing nonstop since last November. As a fairly new asset class with some new investors, will bitcoins continue to grow their value in the next four years? 

3. Tax

    Tax cuts will activate in 2025. For this tax cut to happen, the government had to cut many of the employees from federal firms, stop supplying money for numerous projects such as scientific research, and the remaining employees will be required to go back to the office to work. Stay tuned to see how tax cuts will actually impact society.

4. TikTok court case

    Even before 2020, TikTok was suspected a questionable app that sends users' information to China. Since then, America planned to take action to ban TikTok. However, not much has been done other than some investigations and conferences. Still, let's keep track of what will happen to the fate of TikTok in America.

5. California wildfire and climate change

    For California, the year started out "hot" with the wildfire burning its way to Los Angeles. In recent years, more disastrous weather such as Hurricane Helen, wildfire, and extreme temperatures occurred more and more often than it ever has. Despite recent attempts to help with climate change, the extreme climate only intensified. A good economy cannot thrive under frequent natural disasters. If we really want a good economy, we have to genuinely care about our environment. 

6. More insurance complaints

    From the assassination of the United Healthcare CEO to the California wildfire, we clearly see how horrible the insurance system in America actually is. People had to pay extra money to buy health insurance only to have a lack of coverage. The insurance companies in California managed to avoid covering real estate damages from natural disasters. Therefore, in 2025, we will be expecting more insurance complaints.

7. Minimum wage redefined?

    The increase of the minimum wage debate only intensified in 2024. With more people struggling to survive in the economy, they argued the government should consider increasing the minimum wage. However, increasing the minimum wage faces the risk of fewer workers getting hired because employers can only provide so much money. Stay tuned for the continuation of this debate.
